ASPIRE inspired to third place

In their sparkling new strip provided by K & C Autos and printed by Smart Print of Grimsby ASPIRE’s football team took part in a Comic Relief Tournament on Thursday 14th March. They were inspired and came third.

 

The five-a-side football tournament to raise money for Comic Relief organised by Roundabout with the Grimsby Town Football Club's Support and Education Trust, Lee Stevens, of the trust, said; “it is rewarding to see they are overcoming drug issues and doing something positive and constructive.” The tournament had teams from the Junction Recovery Programme (ASPIRE), Stepping Stones and Navigo along with similar organisations from Derby, Harrogate, Doncaster, Sheffield, Hull and Scunthorpe.

 

A valiant effort from the ASPIRE team meant that they made third spot in the completion. Alan Buckley, former Grimsby Town manager who presented the trophy said: "I have seen some terrific goals and saves."
