
The Recovery College is the coming together of four organisations, The Alcohol & Drug Service, Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust, Spectrum CIC and the Sheffield Hallam University. This is the fifth Recovery College we’ve run and is sponsored by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
This is the fifth college we’ve run and while our aims remain the same to bring together experts from across the field to share best practice and current thinking and; to offer an opportunity for those working in the field to network, share experiences and offer support.
The Fifth Recovery College theme is ‘The Changing Face of Substance Use’ and will cover a range of areas including:
- The Criminal Justice system with a focus on prisons
- Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs
- NPS and festival drug testing
- Prescription Medicines
we’ve some great speakers confirmed for the day including the following
Key note speaker: Dr Edward Day
Appointed as the Governments Drug Recovery Champion Dr Days task is to ensure the best treatment and support for those recovering from drug misuse. A clinician and academic with expertise in the field and experience in dealing directly with those who are dependent on drugs, Dr Day is well qualified for the task.
Subject speakers will include;
Michael Wheatley: Michael is a senior manager and recovery adviser working in the substance misuse and mental health team in HMPPS
Dr Soraya Mayet: Dr Mayet is a consultant psychiatrist with many years experience in the front line of substance misuse
Andy Maddison: Programme Manager Public Health England Yorkshire and Humber region. Andy has also worked as an adult and young persons’ substance misuse worker and commissioner.
