Rick gets Recognition for Recovery work
Rick Hoppers contribution to the recovery of people with substance misuse problems was recognised by the High Sheriff of Lincolnshire earlier this month.
The High Sheriff’s Award recognises people who have made a significant contribution to the well-being of the community in Lincolnshire, with voluntary organisations, charities and community groups across Lincolnshire nominating individuals for this special award.
Having been through his personal battle with dependence Rick uses his own personal struggles to offer support and guidance to people struggling with their own addiction to drugs or alcohol.
Laura Wallen Practice Lead said “Rick continues to make our service incredibly proud of his achievements and his willingness to use his own experience to support others in their recovery journey. Having witnessed this first hand I know he really makes a difference to people”
A recovery champion for our service for the past 2 and half years, Rick opens the Recovery café in Scunthorpe every week come rain or shine and continues to help build the recovery community in Scunthorpe. The Recovery café had 485 people attend in 2012 and its continued success and growth reaches out to others who need support in their recovery.
Rick received his award from the High Sheriff at an awards ceremony at Lincoln Crown Court, Castle Hill, Lincoln, followed by a reception at the Judges Lodgings in Castle Square, Lincoln.
