This element of the service is offered on behalf of ERP by our partners Nacro. Referrals are received from all areas of the criminal justice system: prisons, courts, police, the National Probation Service and community rehabilitation companies. Attendance is frequently attached to licence conditions, bail or court orders in the form of Alcohol Treatment Requirements (ATRs) and Drug Rehabilitation Requirements (DRRs) via six to nine-month intensive programmes. Self-referrals are also accepted from people who have recently been in the criminal justice system system.
The focus of work is support towards behaviour change linked to offending and substance misuse, keeping people safe and engaged in treatment, and encouraging joint working with a wide variety of partners depending on individual client needs.
Intensive Engagement workers work intensively with a small number of individuals in ‘hot spot’ areas of the East Riding to reduce homelessness and increase engagement with support services. These clients will have been in contact with the criminal justice system and have multiple complex needs characterised by one or more of the following:
