Foundations Big Brew Up raises funds for SSAFA

Service users and staff at Foundations Drug and Alcohol Service in Grimsby enjoyed a cuppa and a cake and helped raise over £51 for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Armed Forces Charity

They were taking part in SSAFA’s Big Brew Up, which runs each year during Armed Forces Week to raise funds to provide lifelong support to all the British Forces and their families.

Steve Picket, Non-Medical Prescriber who organised the event said: “SSAFA does some fantastic work for people who are serving now, as well as veterans, having served in the Armed Forces, it’s a charity close to my heart.

“Some of us at Foundations have family who are serving, and we often have ex-servicemen accessing our service for support, so we know first-hand about the help and support provided by SSAFA”

Thanks to the generous donation of 1,100 teabags from York based caterers Miller Food Service and a bumper batch of delicious homemade cakes baked by Steve’s wife Elaine, staff and service users took a tea break and enjoyed a cupcake all for a very good cause
